Icehotel
Every winter the Torne River supplies the material. Blocks are harvested in spring, stored, and used to build the seasonal halls when the cold returns.
Artists from around the world are invited to design individual art suites, so no two years look the same. Rooms sit at a few degrees below zero, and guests sleep in thermal bags on reindeer hides.
Icehotel 365 is the permanent building, kept cold all year with the help of solar power. Most guests pair a single night on ice with warm rooms in the surrounding cabins and chalets. Kiruna airport is a short transfer away.
