Last updated: 1 June 2026

A note on our content. SummitBridge publishes general educational home-improvement, DIY and renovation information for Australian homeowners. It is not professional building, electrical, plumbing, gas or structural advice, and nothing on this site should be relied upon as such. This Privacy Policy is about how we handle your personal information — not about the projects we describe.

1. Introduction & scope

SummitBridge (“SummitBridge”, “we”, “us” or “our”) operates the website at summitbridgeworld.com (the “Site”). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (the “APPs”).

This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and disclose it, and the choices and rights available to you. It applies to information collected through the Site, our newsletter and our contact channels. By using the Site, you agree to the practices described here.

2. Information we collect

We aim to collect only what we need to run an editorial publication and respond to you. The information we may collect includes:

  • Newsletter email address — when you subscribe to our dispatch, we collect the email address you provide.
  • Contact-form details — when you write to us, we collect your name, email address and the content of your message so we can reply.
  • Analytics information — aggregated, largely de-identified data about how visitors use the Site, such as pages viewed, approximate region, device and browser type, and referring links.
  • Cookies and similar technologies — small files stored on your device. See section 5 and our Cookie Policy.

We do not require you to create an account, and we do not knowingly collect sensitive information (such as health, financial or biometric data).

3. How we use your information

We use the personal information we collect to:

  • send the newsletter you have asked to receive;
  • respond to your enquiries, feedback and requests;
  • understand which guides and articles are most useful, and improve our content and the Site;
  • maintain the security, integrity and performance of the Site; and
  • meet our legal and regulatory obligations.

We do not sell your personal information. We will only use it for the purpose for which it was collected, a directly related purpose you would reasonably expect, or a purpose to which you have consented.

4. Third parties & service providers

We rely on a small number of reputable third-party providers to operate the Site, including web analytics and email delivery services. These providers may process limited personal information on our behalf, strictly to provide their service to us.

We take reasonable steps to choose providers that maintain appropriate privacy and security standards. We do not authorise them to use your information for their own unrelated purposes. We may also disclose information where required or authorised by law.

5. Cookies & analytics

The Site uses cookies to remember your preferences and to help us understand how the Site is used. Essential cookies keep the Site working; preference and analytics cookies are optional and are only used with your consent.

You can review and change your choices at any time through our Cookie Policy, and you can manage or delete cookies in your browser settings. Disabling some cookies may affect how parts of the Site function.

6. Data security

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference and loss, and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These include encrypted connections, restricted access and trusted hosting.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You also have a role to play in keeping your own devices and email accounts secure.

7. Data retention

We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law. Newsletter details are retained until you unsubscribe; contact-form correspondence is retained for a reasonable period to manage your enquiry and our records.

When information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.

8. Your rights under the APPs

Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have rights in relation to the personal information we hold about you, including the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you;
  • Correct information that is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete;
  • Unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time;
  • Ask us to delete information we no longer need to hold.

To make a request, email hello@summitbridgeworld.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting, and we will respond within a reasonable time. There is generally no charge to access your information.

9. Children’s privacy

The Site is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

10. Overseas disclosure

Some of our service providers (for example, analytics and email platforms) may store or process data on servers located outside Australia. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled consistently with the APPs and is afforded an appropriate level of protection.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal obligations. The current version will always be available on this page, with the “Last updated” date revised accordingly. Significant changes will be made prominent where appropriate.

13. Contact & complaints

If you have a question, request or complaint about how we handle your personal information, please contact us first:

We take privacy concerns seriously and will acknowledge and investigate your complaint within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
