1. Acceptance of these terms

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the SummitBridge website at summitbridgeworld.com (the “Site”), operated by SummitBridge (“we”, “us” or “our”). By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

These Terms should be read together with our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

2. About the service

SummitBridge is an independent Australian editorial magazine covering home improvement, DIY and renovation. We publish general educational content only — guides, articles, inspiration and planning tools. We are not a trades directory, a contractor marketplace or a store, and we do not sell products, supply materials or arrange labour.

Any cost estimates, calculators or planning tools on the Site are indicative and educational only. They are not quotes and should not be relied upon as a substitute for written quotes from appropriately licensed professionals.

3. DIY safety disclaimer

Read this before you pick up a tool

The information on SummitBridge is general in nature and is NOT professional building, electrical, plumbing, gas or structural advice. It does not account for your specific home, site conditions or local requirements.

You must:

  • follow the relevant Australian Standards, manufacturer instructions and your local council and regulatory requirements;
  • engage appropriately licensed tradespeople for any electrical, plumbing, gas, structural or other regulated work — this work must not be attempted as DIY;
  • use appropriate safety equipment and take care with tools, materials and hazardous substances such as asbestos.

You assume all risk for any DIY work you undertake and for your use of any tools or materials. If you are ever unsure, stop and engage a qualified professional.

4. No warranties & accuracy

We work hard to keep our content accurate and current, but the Site is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we make no warranties or representations, express or implied, about the accuracy, completeness, reliability or fitness for a particular purpose of any content on the Site.

Standards, products, prices and regulations change, and may differ between states, territories and councils. You are responsible for checking that any information is current and applicable to your circumstances before relying on it.

5. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SummitBridge and its contributors will not be liable for any loss, damage, cost or expense — whether direct, indirect, incidental or consequential — arising from your use of, or reliance on, the Site or its content, including any DIY work you undertake.

Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that you have under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)) or other law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where our liability cannot be excluded but can be limited, our liability is limited, at our option, to re-supplying the relevant content or paying the cost of having it re-supplied.

6. Intellectual property

All content on the Site — including text, articles, illustrations, graphics, logos and design — is owned by or licensed to SummitBridge and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.

You may view, download and print content for your own personal, non-commercial use. You must not reproduce, republish, distribute or commercially exploit any content without our prior written permission. The SummitBridge name and logo are our trade marks and may not be used without consent.

7. User submissions

If you send us feedback, ideas, photos or other material (for example through our contact form), you grant SummitBridge a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, reproduce, adapt and publish that material in connection with the Site and our publication.

You confirm that you own or have the rights to any material you submit, that it does not infringe anyone else’s rights, and that it is not unlawful, misleading or offensive. We are under no obligation to publish or use any submission.

9. Acceptable use

When using the Site, you agree not to:

  • use the Site for any unlawful, harmful or fraudulent purpose;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to, interfere with or disrupt the Site or its servers;
  • copy, scrape or harvest content or data except as expressly permitted;
  • introduce viruses or other malicious code; or
  • infringe the rights of, or misrepresent, SummitBridge or any other person.

We may suspend or restrict access to the Site where we reasonably believe these Terms have been breached.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Victoria, Australia. You submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria and the courts competent to hear appeals from them.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version will always be available on this page, with the “Last updated” date revised. Your continued use of the Site after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
